6 Tips To Get the Most Out of Planful Perform 2022

For reference, Perform 2022 has a convenient and efficient 9-to-5 Pacific Time schedule on May 24 and 25 (with an extended evening party on the 25th – more below!), and a shorter afternoon-only schedule for May 23, when Planful training sessions will take place.

The sessions you choose to attend should answer a strategic question or that help you better understand areas you’re curious about. Before you attend, jot down a few questions to ask. When you’re there, take notes. It’s easy to forget key points, ideas, or recommended resources, so write them down.

Also while you’re at Perform, make an effort to engage in the conversation when the speaker asks questions or when you’re networking with other attendees. Your time is precious so Planful won’t waste it. I know from experience that Perform is run on point. Sessions start on time and they’re packed full of great information. Speakers usually take up the entire allotted time, so I recommend getting to sessions early. Also, it’s ok to sit in the front!

While you’re in a session, remember to hit “do not disturb” on your phone and block off your calendar with “busy” appointments during the entire event. I don’t want you to be that person who interrupts a session with your Jay-Z ringtone. Also, that email from sales can wait; they’ll be alright.

In-person networking seems like an entirely new concept after two years of virtual events and video meetings. It’s ok to do it your way, and any way that keeps you comfortable is totally acceptable. Wear a mask. Elbow bump instead of shaking hands. Have a bottle of hand sanitizer in your pocket. Keep up the six-foot distancing. Do what makes you feel safe and comfortable, and respect whatever makes others feel comfortable, too.

Most of all, remember to listen, reflect, and connect, since Perform 2022 is all about being Better, Together. We all want to hear each others’ stories so have some conversation starters at the ready. My favorite is, “What’s the most critical issue for your finance team in 2022?” It gets people thinking and is wide open, not just a yes/no question.
